First Snow Fairyphoria

I was born in NY but now live in CA, and one thing I miss terribly every winter now is the season's First Snow. There's a special smell to the air when it's about to happen and it's positively MAGIC when it starts! We actually got cold enough for a San Diego snowfall one year! After the birth of my second son (who was born two days before Christmas and named after St. Nick) my husband took me around the block for a walk to help get my sea legs back after an epidural, and I smelled it; I smelled coming SNOW! I said so to my husband and he thought I was postpartum nuts! But I distinctly remembered the smell from my childhood in NY! And sure enough, within a few minutes, snow flakes came down. Oh sure, they melted as soon as they hit the ground, but nonetheless I lay down in the nearest neighbor's yard and pretended to make snow angels! This art piece was inspired by that magic feeling of season's First Snow and the euphoria it brings!
Medium: Watercolor, acrylic, ink.
