Only in Chaos..
Amanda P. Robison
Medium: Watercolor, watercolor pencils
Description: This is my take on my manic depressive "disorder", There is alot of personal symbolism in this that would take far too long to explain is a short description. I will however describe part of it the best I can. One side is the ME that is depressed and lives in sadness and hopelessness in a cavern. The other is the ME whose feet never touch the ground, she is constantly in flight and is full of boundless energy and hope.
I dedicate this piece to my late Grandmother: Stella, your spirit was too unique for this world, I hope you have found yourself out there...I miss you...

Warriorette
April VanSickle
Medium: Watercolor on 300lb hot press paper
Description: This self portrait does not resemble my outer self, but rather my inner self. I often times find myself defending the mouse against the lion, or opting to play femme fatales in video games.

Midnight Stroll
Christina Davis
Medium: Watercolor on 300 lb coldpress
Description: This was a great project to work on since it is not every day that you paint your own self. I chose to make this a night time painting because I love being outside at night when the moon is shining. It's so enchanting. As for my fantasy self, I wanted to try creating wings that I've never painted before and this is what I came up with. I also wanted to give myself really long hair because I've never had hair that long before. :-) The dress was done in black and red because I wanted to give myself a more dark mysterious look without having to change the hair color. Hope you enjoy this piece and the awesome show!

Medium: Acrylic
Description: What inspired me to paint this piece was the fact that I am obsessed with snow and winter. I have never seen snow before and living in South Florida, rarely get a cold winter. As an artist, I have found that I absolutely adore painting in pastel blues and purples and felt these colors were fitting in the cool atmosphere I created.

In the Crescent Wood
Heather Van Winkle
Medium: Ink and Watercolor
Description: a whimsical painting of a faery, who may look a bit like myself, walking through a moonlit wood on a warm spring night. This painting has several symbols that mean something to me- I'm particularly fond of moons (expecially crescent!) owls and yes, even little bats. I love to put them in my artwork whenever I can!
I also spent many years working in a plant nursery and love flowers and natural settings- I wanted to highlight these things in this piece asto symbolize the things I love and things that interest me, to make this painting a statement about myself in many ways.

JaeFae
Jae
Medium: Airbrush/ Colored Pencil
Description: Well, my favorite fantasy being is a mermaid but I felt that would be a little difficult since this was a portrait not a full body pic. You wouldnt be able to see a full body mermaid. I did a really cute painting of my sister and my kids as faeries. They turned out great so I decided I'd try and do myself in the same way. I don't know why I used pink and yellow. I really dont like the colors too much. I LOVE blue and used that as my frame color. I guess I just wanted to do something different with my color scheme and the warm whether has really been making me want to wear bright colors lately. a few weeks ago I was wearing bright orange nail polish. I guess spring fever is hitting me and sneaking into my work as well. This was a fun piece to do and I plan on doing a few more of myself as a few
different fantasy characters just for fun. Its fun to put on some different
shoes for a change.

Twilight Whispers
Jennifer Singleton
Medium: Pastels, graphite pencils, and a bit of paint on A3 paper
Description: I wanted to express what I had felt inside for the past year, and to show a balance of both light and dark. The goth tears are an expression of the darkness inside, the pain and sadness I have been through, how much I deeply miss one of my very best friends. The heart is for the love and light my family and friends give me each day, and for the love I feel for them. My pendant is an Icelandic Thor's Hammer, a treasured gift from my brother, Daniel.

Description: At the time that the original photo of me was taken I spent most of my spare time climbing trees or swimming in lakes closer to nature than humans who did not understand me. Owls and birds of prey have always been my favorite of the feathered kind. This particular owl I was lucky enough to meet and take a photo of in February of 2006 at the Fort Defiance Zoo in Tacoma, WA.
